church stained glass

i love stained glass.  i took some photos at st. gabriel's (chardon) and it makes me want to take another stained glass class.  

of course i had to touch the fires of hell!

That technique is called slab glass, faceted glass, or dalle de vere (flagstones of glass). The glass is one thick and cast in an epoxy resin. The facets are made by chipping the edges of each piece of glass with a hammer. It is best to not touch these windows because those facets can be sharp. The technique is very bold and graphic in design usually more contemporary. The black spaces (the negaive areas) are used to draw your eyes around the space.
