i am suddenly swamped at work, trying to juggle 6 small projects on my own. but happy to have the work through the holidays. i'm back to sitting in a large room with about 15 people at different tables.
my number one office pet peeve: people who constantly complain about the temp in large rooms. people who call maintenance to complain. people who are "freeze babies" and always want the heat turned up. people who bitch about being cold, wearing short skirts and sleeveless dresses.
obviously i like the temps on the cool side, i admit this freely. but i keep my trap shut about it! i dress in layers so that if i get warm, i can take a sweater or jacket off. if it gets really warm, i have a fan at my desk, and drink lots of ice water. i don't bitch about it, or call maintenance.
in other news: i'm going to be seeing some old marching band friends at a "mini reunion" around thanksgiving. i'm so excited to see some of the older band geeks who weren't at my reunion. band geeks rule!!!
ok, my blog is boring. i'll add some more pics from the reception last weekend and say ciao for now.

Wheres all the controversy and fighting we use to see on here? I guess thats what happens when your old and married....boring....
Oh yeah?!?! you wanna fight about it?!?!?!?!
:)
i totally agree; freeze babies are just that; babies! grow-up!! it's easier to get warm than it is to get cold (i think).
(how's that for controversy?)
groundcat, you're WAY off-base and TOTALLY WRONG!!!!!
(not really, I agree that freeze babies just need to bring a coat and STFU)
yah!!! fight fight!!
Remember the sandwich debate, and the cabbage roll fight, and the sweat pants debate...Now those were some blogs...fake fighting does not work...
Does everyone know by now that Jennette is off balance?
overweight and unbalanced thank you very much!
also, i am a total freezebaby. wanna make somethin' of it?!?!?
Freeze Babies have rights too! :o)
Working in a large office I can totally relate. If I get cold I put on a sweater and drink some tea. You will never make everyone happy! I laugh at some people here who are sitting at their desks with their winter coats, scarfs and gloves on while trying to type. INSANE!
how to spot a north american freeze baby:
1. they are usually skinny
2. typically female
3. mostly black
so if you see a skinny black lady, you can be pretty sure you've got a freeze baby in your midst.
although i once knew a fat white guy who was always cold, but that was an anomaly.
love,
politically incorrect girl
I knew a freeze baby that met #2 and #3, who ran a space heater under her desk even when it was 70 degrees outside and everyone was in short sleeves.
Wow we finally got a real debate going here...I personally am hot in the summer and cold in the winter...what does that make me? Seasonally correct....
I worked with a dipshit, er, I mean 'freeze baby', that ran a space heater under her desk when she was cold. That is until she blew out a circuit and took down one of our production databases. Next day, new rule!
while i am female, i am not skinny or black. although i am skinnier than i once was and i think that might be part of the problem, i say i lost my insulation! whatever, i'm like rachel at work try not to complain ijust put on an f'ing sweater and have tea or coffee.
jnet- i was going to suggest that you lost a significant amount of weight and are going to feel colder then usual.
after the weight loss surgery, when i got skinny, i was a total freeze baby!
now that i've got some "insulation" back i'm actually not too hot or too cold...
I'm like a little kid and totally oblivious to the climate inside the office. But I notice that people have strong opinions about it. And it leads to friction.
How about the person who....never plays music 'til the one day out of thirty you listen to a CD real quiet, then all of a sudden feels the overwhelming urge to overcoat the air with top 40 radio until you give up and turn off yours. Because "Your music is weird." And you never say, "Well, your music is plain bad."
And the Ladies Who Cry at Work About Work.
Having said that, I really like my co-workers. The occasional fudgeirritant is just the byproduct of spending over 40 hrs a weeks with strangers. I let em all fight over the hot cold thing. I got the fat and a throwblanket.
