we're thinking about having a "belated" wedding reception later this year, & we've been looking into venues, hiring a band maybe, and getting a cool cake. i checked my favorite food blog (www.eatingcleveland.com) but didn't see any posts about cake. so i emailed mark to ask "what gives?" apparently the boy doesn't like cake (insane!) but he offered to post something on his site and ask for readers recommendations. click here to see the results of his post. we've definitely got some good leads. a few people have emailed me directly to also give recommendations. very cool! i need to add eating cleveland to my blog honor roll right now. it's one of those blogs worth checking out. he updates all the time and gives great tips on restaurants, recipes, and he's funny as hell.

ok, time to find some pics of weird wedding cakes. enjoy!

creepy themed wedding cakes (zombie and scorpions)

barbie cakes are popular and include the requisite fake orange tan. (the one on the right might have had to much champagne....)

and we all love this one... i think this photo has appeared on thousands of blogs in the last few weeks. there's just so much going on in this photo! why would anyone want a life-sized cake of themselves? how much did cake thing cost? who is going to eat the damn thing? do they serve anti-psychotic medication as a side dish? where do they start cutting the cake? (i would suggested an ice pick to the frontal lobe.) and the groom..... you have to feel sorry for what he's getting himself into. does he come home from work to a casserole in the shape of his new bride?

ok, that's all for now. the long holiday weekend has ended and i need to get some crap done. ciao!

p.s. groundcat has a great blog post from the weekend, go check it out. the comments are equally as interesting as the post. good stuff!

I don't think the pink cake is a wedding cake...Its a stripper that jumps out of a cake...maybe for a bachelor party?

If only you lived in Baltimore you could get the "Ace of Cakes" guy to make you one in the shape of Brian Peppers or something

is in it inappropriate to have a stripper jump out of a wedding cake...?

according to the rules of weddings, if no bachelor party was thrown, the groom has the right to select one moment in time in which a stripper may appear.
