random stuff: links, guest blogging, merkins....

i read an article on cnn about wacky packages and got all nostalgic. growing up i loved these things! i collected the trading cards in elementary school (pre garbage pail kids.) i was also really into MAD magazine and loved the parody ads there as well.

i think those wacky packages, MAD magazine, etc...really formed my childhood and had a huge influence on the weirdo i grew up to be. weird and proud of it!

side note: art speigelman was one of the creators of wacky packages. i had no idea! i would boss everyone to check out the maus, a graphic novel/ memoir about his life & his family's ordeal during the holocaust.

some blog bossing from UC freak: "I read your blog all the time, and I have a suggestion- can you do a blog on pubic wigs? I think you were the person who told me about them." also: "Adding recipes? How about bagel/bacon/cream cheese? I miss Aretha downtown. She made the best breakfasts!!"

yes, i was the one who told UC freak about merkins. it was neil young who (inadvertently) taught me the term!

also- the toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese and crispy bacon was yummy! UC freak and another friend & i would walk over to the cafeteria some mornings and get this odd breakfast sandwich. it sounds gross, but tasted awesome. as gross and good as adding butter to ramen noodles.
