a strange day.......

back to work after 4 days off. 4 days where i didn't think about work once. it was lovely. people have commented on my blog and to me personally that we seem to have a lot of fun. and we really do. i don't want to get too mushy, but i will say that dan is a blast.

he's so much fun to hang out with, and i'm lucky to have found the boy. he bought me a pink glittery teddy bear with wings for god's sake! my face hurts from all the smiling and laughing these last few days, and i am aware of how lucky i am. at the little last minute party we threw on saturday, i looked around and saw friends and family having such a good time, and i hit me, that i need to appreciate the good times.

ok, enough with the mush! on to the bad news..... as soon as i got to my desk, my boss was over to let me know that saturdays are now mandatory, from now until xmas. he was excited to tell me, the evil prick.
i've been fighting the overtime for months now, so i knew this was coming. i think i've just been here too long (a year and 1/2 now) and am burned out. also, i see the project from a better perspective then i did as a newbie, and i see there really is no need to force overtime on anyone. the problem is that the department i work in is run by workaholics who don't like being home. they don't get along with their husbands or wives, or don't like their kids, so they want to be here as much as possible. other folks have large weddings or college loans to pay off and just want the money. so my resume is updated and we'll see what happens.

and finally, the most disturbing news: our family dentist was brutally murdered over the weekend. read about it here. i don't know exactly what to say, because anyone who knows me at all knows i had a bad experience with the guy as a kid. i went to him when i was about 5 or 6 and he was crabby with me and smacked my arm. i've hated going to the dentist ever since. i've even joked about showing up at his office and smacking his arm. but to hear that he was murdered and in such a brutal way, it makes no sense. plenty of people loved the guy. my mom has gone to him for almost 30 years now and always liked seeing him. who would want to kill a 70 year old dentist? and in such a brutal way...i don't understand. i just wanted to yell at him for being so crabby with me back in 1975......
