some people give me hope.....

"On Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at a hearing on the proposed Constitutional Amendment to prohibit gay marriage, Jamie Raskin, professor of law at AU, was requested to testify.

At the end of his testimony, Republican Senator Nancy Jacobs said: "Mr. Raskin, my Bible says marriage is only between a man and a woman. What do you have to say about that?"

Raskin replied: "Senator, when you took your oath of office, you placed your hand on the Bible and swore to uphold the Constitution. You did not place your hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible."

The room erupted into applause."

(and NO, zak, this does not mean i am a lesbian! i am just a fan of keeping church and state seperate. duh!)

Isn't that Raskin guy clever.

Not to be picky, glittergirl, but our trusty Constitution doesn't really separate anything (except us from our taxable income).

And the preamble even mentions God and some guy named Creator too. Oh God, no!

good point lobster boy, but riddle me this: is the constitution based on the bible or written to uphold biblical law?

i guess what i am wondering, is where does a girl like me fit in? i don't believe in god and the bible doesn't mean anything to me. i respect that it does to others.

i guess it's my vote that suposed to count. but even when my guy wins, he gets sworn in on the bible.

what's a heathen non-god believin' gal to do?
