kurt vonnegut passed away. i discovered him in high school (along with j.d. salinger) and loved his novels slaughterhouse five and bluebeard. he also gave great commencement speeches and illustrated some of his own work. the image above was always a favorite. image that as your epitaph.....

griffin is going to a new vet, so i searched online to find his original info. he's still on petfinder, showing as adopted. i think i may have posted a link to his profile a while back. it's just cool to be reminded of where he came from and how much they loved him. i can't believe he was ever timid or afraid to come up and lick someone right in the face!

ok, now for my don imus rant. i am not providing a pic because he's ugly and i never liked the guy. i never found him to be funny or interesting in the slightest. but the media furor over his comments about a women's basketball team is so out of whack. it's to the point that i don't understand who can say what. can comedians and radio "shock jocks" make jokes about race? can certain words become illegal? can people lose their jobs for speaking certain words? can an old white guy say the same words as a young black guy? using the word "ho" in a rap song seems to be fine. what about the N word???

it seems like the janet jackson superbowl nipple incident (and i feel dumb even typing that up) started a witch hunt. howard stern ended up off regular radio, opie & anthony are bleeped and censored to the point of missing 1/2 the show, and al sharpton had gotten don imus fired and michael richards in therapy. it's some weird combo of sex and race, politcal correctness and scape goating. and all i keep thinking is, "if you don't like it, turn the dial!"
