more movie reviews, more snow pics

here's the thing: we like tv. we watch a lot of tv. we rent DVDs, own DVDs and get them in the mail from netflix. we like tv and we like movies. even if we weren't trapped inside this weekend from all the snow, we'd be watching a lot of tv. i'm just sayin'!

we rented evil dead 2 and then watched the first one. i finally get it. i thought i would hate these films, but i suprised myself by really liking them. they are weird and funny and like nothing i've ever seen. i assumed i'd hate the movies and was prepared to break it to groundcat very gently. instead, i found myself watching all the extras on the DVDs, including a documentary by & about bruce campbell. i feel so ashamed!

we caught the jazz singer on cable. i loved this movie as a kid! "love on the rocks" and "hello" are such good and cheesy ballads. seeing neil diamond trying to "find himself" by wandering around TX in a cowboy hat is good stuff.

i finally saw "the apartment" with jack lemmon & shirely mcclaine. this is now one of my all-time favorite films. jack lemmon is charming and shirley mcclaine is breath-taking. she's so funny and damaged all at once. and jack lemmon is heart-breaking in front of the theater with his kleenex blowing into a puddle.

we also managed to catch "can't stop the music", the pseudo-biography of the village people starring valerie perrine and steve guttenbergh. enough said. bruce jenner plays perrine's love interest and wears short shorts and a cropped t-shirt. it is quite simply the gayest movie i have ever seen in my life and makes "the birdcage" look like a john wayne movie.

we ended the weekend watching our DVD of "let's scare jessica to death", a very underrated horror film that renny & i stumbled upon a discount shelf at a video store in columbus over 10 years ago.

ok, more snow pics, dogs pics and groundcat pics....

The Apartment is a brilliant film. Great screenplay, great direction, and wonderful performances from Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, and Fred MacMurray. This is one of my five favorite films of all time.
