time for a new poll....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Saturday_Night_Live_cast_members

who do you think was the best on SNL? look at this list on the link above, because it's huge. here's my top 10:

  1. phil hartman
  2. will ferrell
  3. gilda radner
  4. dana carvey
  5. molly shannon
  6. martin short
  7. john belushi
  8. chris farley
  9. eddie murphy
  10. mike myers

now these aren't my favorite comedians. i left off sara silverman, janeane garafalo and christopher guest. and i hate eddie murphy. i chose my list based only on the 10 people i thought were best on SNL and really made the show. if i had a number 11 it would have been charles rocket, anyone remember him? or maybe daryl hammond for his shaun connery impression....

anyways, here's my top 10 and i'm sticking to it!

  1. gg- While I was standing in line to get my copy of NewsRadio - Season Three (released on DVD TODAY!!!!), Phil spoke to me and told me to visit your page. And now I know why.

Ahem. Now about your poll... You definitely have the top four right (maybe #3 and #4 could switch places... tough call there.)

The rest of your list is painfully wrong though. Mike Myers should be much higher than #10. And where's Adam Sandler?

  2. adam sandler is way over-rated.

i hated putting eddie murphy on the list, but back in the day he was amazing on SNL....

  3. Leaving off Chevy Chase is sacrilege.
He's clearly a pompous ass, but that's my kind of guy.
    Chevy Chase.

    And omitting Dan Akroyd?
Have you lost your minds!? Maybe you're just ignorant sluts. (it's a joke from SNL, not an insult, I'm not a beeyotch. Well, not totally)

Steve Martin should at least get an honorable mention as a recurring guest host, and wild and crazy guy.

  4. You have picked a difficult task trying to stay within a top 10. I do agree about Phil -- he was the best.

Wil Ferrell is too high, and no Dan Ackroyd? Yikes!

IMO Chevy Chase was over-rated, but the rest looks good to me ;-)

BTW came though here via tlm's blog.

  5. welcome from TLM's blog!

while i am an ignorant slut, i must disagree strongly with chevy chase. he was a smarmy bastard and a one-note performer. dan ackroyd was a consideration, but he got bumped for molly shannon. she did lots of great and weird characters.

i admit upon further consideration, that mike myers should indeed be higher on the list.

also, i forgot jan hooks who was so great with phil! and what about the current cast? tina fey is great as a news anchor. but is she better then dennis miller????

and as for host, steve martin wins a special award! one of my favorite moments is when he and gilda did the fred astair/ginger rogers dance routine and spun around the studio. but tom hanks has also been a solid host, and as much as i dislike alec baldwin, he was so good as the creepy scout leader who seduced canteen boy.

  6. My favorite Steve Martin moments include the King Tut song and dance and of COURSE the two wild and crazy guys! But I'm totally biased because I adore Steve Martin. He could read the phonebook and I'd pee myself laughing. That said, I'm skipping The Pink Panther, basically because I'm sick and tired of Beyonce playing herself in movies. Enough already! You're not that bootylicious.

Alec Baldwin as creepy scout leader is hilarious, also his Schuette balls. Ha ha!

You can't expect her to have any appreciation for Akroyd or Bill Murry (who also should have made that list) because she has never seen GhostBusters. See, that makes her less of a person.
