it's snowing today and being in this building is like being in a snow globe. i love snow! that being said, i am not a big fan of xmas. i don't like the whole "birthday of baby jesus" part. it's just an ancient pagen holiday (winter solstice) that the christians took over. also, santa is a little creepy....

This Santa is scarier than the one in A Christmas Story!!!! and yes, I can see the similarity between Griffin and our new Mayor-Elect. It's quite frightening.

Santa always scared the buhjeebers out of me. Even when I was little. Now mind you, I was always down with the concept of someone giving me piles of gear...I'd take it anywhere I could get it. But it always seemed a little unnerving to me that some old geezer in red fuzzy pajamas was allowed in our house at night when we were sleeping to leave the stuff. And why couldn't he use the DOOR like a normal person? If he was on the up and up, wouldn't it make sense that he would want to come in while we were awake and give the stuff to us himself so we could thank him properly? And I never dug the sitting on Santa's lap gig, either. I was always told not to even talk to strangers or make eye contact with them or tell them my name, but it was perfectly alright to sit on this old weirdo's lap, tell him my name and everything I did all year long and where I lived, so he could let himself in while we were all in bed?! And he always had slightly askew facial hair held on by an elastic band that smelled like Camel no-filters and moth balls. That's right up there with trick or treat...that's a great idea! Let's shove our kids out into the darkness with a guinnesak and let run amok door to door taking candy from strangers. And better yet...let's just open the door to strange people (some of them VERY large, by the way) with masks over their faces just because they rang the bell. Cuckoo.
